A Brief Description of the Series
The television series "Chicks" immerses viewers in the colorful world of a provincial town in southern Russia, where events unfold around the lives of four women—Lyuda, Marina, Sveta, and Zhanna. At the beginning of the story, they are engaged in prostitution, each of whom came to this occupation for their own reasons, through a difficult path filled with difficulties and internal conflicts.
Zhanna's return from Moscow becomes a turning point in their lives. Zhanna proposes to her friends the idea of opening a fitness center, inspiring them to see their future through the prism of independent and honest entrepreneurship. However, the attempt to change their lifestyle proves far from simple. Valera, the pimp who controls this industry, engages in a fierce battle with the heroines, striving to maintain his influence and power over them.
Beyond the main storyline, the series explores Zhanna's personal struggles. She tries to protect her son Roma from the interference of his father, Kostya, who unexpectedly decides to rebuild his relationship with the child. Zhanna is categorically opposed to her ex-husband's involvement in their lives, which adds complexity and tension to the development of events.
The idea of a fitness center, despite their enthusiasm, proves too difficult to implement. Instead, the heroines find more realistic ways to begin a new chapter in their lives. Gradually, their destinies are transformed: Sveta meets the kind Anton, Lyuda gets a job as a saleswoman at a local store and builds a relationship with Yura, a police officer and Marina's brother. Marina gets a job in the cafeteria and begins to communicate with Kostya, whose true motivations are gradually revealed.
The climax of the series marks a radical change in the heroines' lives. Thanks to Zhanna's resilience and determination, her friends manage to escape their past. They earn a stable income through honest work, find love, and strengthen family ties. The series becomes an inspiring narrative about the struggle for freedom and independence, highlighting female friendship as a powerful engine for overcoming life's challenges.

Interesting Facts and Notes
An analysis of key aspects of the series "Chicks" reveals many details deserving close attention.
- The project began development under the alternative titles "Five Women" and "Sing, Drink, Cry," which later gave way to their final version. Such a transformation during development may indicate profound changes in the creators' conceptual intent.
- Filming took place from July to October 2019 in the town of Prokhladny, located in Kabardino-Balkaria. Director Eduard Oganesyan's choice of this location was no accident—he is originally from the region. His knowledge of the local culture and atmosphere of small southern towns allowed him to subtly convey their unique character.
- The filming crew was not without its incidents: on September 4, 2019, the film crew was attacked by an intoxicated local resident. The attacker opened fire with a hunting rifle, but fortunately, there were no casualties. The damage was limited to vehicles used in the filming process. The troublemaker was later apprehended by police.
- The creators placed special emphasis on the actors' preparation. Mikhail Troynik, who plays the priest, took an unexpected step: to convey his character convincingly, he decided to visit the New Athos Monastery and personally interact with real clergy. This experience helped him gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual dimension of his role.
- The costumes of the characters also played an important role, demonstrating the subtle craftsmanship of the series' visual style. Costume designer Elena Kazakevich drew inspiration from the photography of Alessandra Sanguinetti and Dmitry Markov, as well as from the works of such masters as Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin and Gely Korzhev. This multidisciplinary approach contributed to the creation of an expressive visual aesthetic that comes to life on screen.
- The series' musical score deserves special mention. It includes original musical inserts—mini-clips of sorts—that are seamlessly woven into the structure of each episode. The cast includes Ivan Dorn, singer Luna, and the band Pompeya, whose compositions add a contemporary edge to the narrative and heighten its emotional impact.
- "Chicks" demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in every aspect of its creation: from the choice of locations and the masterful costume designers to the deep acting and harmonious musical score.
