«Peacemaker» is an American superhero action television series created by James Gunn, who developed the series specifically for the HBO Max streaming platform. The story is based on the DC Comics comics and continues the storyline of the character of the same name, first introduced in the 2021 film Suicide Squad: Mission: Outlaws. John Cena portrays the title character, alongside Daniel Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.

The series' debut season is part of the DC Extended Universe, better known as the DCEU. It premiered on HBO Max on January 13, 2022, and the first season concluded on February 17 of that year. The second season, which launched later, on August 21, 2025, is officially part of the new media franchise known as the DC Universe (DCU). The television series received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Particular attention was paid to John Cena's exceptional performance, which deeply explored his character, James Gunn's talented direction, and the meticulously crafted script, which imbued the story with a captivating dynamic and unique style.

Plot

A brief description of the events of the series

After the events of the film "The Suicide Squad", Christopher Smith, known as Peacekeeper, is once again in demand by the American government. He is assigned a secret mission related to the elimination of especially dangerous targets, and a group of irreconcilable characters who are not always ready to work together are assigned as partners.

During the operation, the Peacekeeper will not only have to prove the effectiveness of his methods in extreme conditions, but also undergo tests on the brink of survival, performing more deadly risky tasks. In addition, he is forced to face personal problems, including a difficult relationship with his own father. Christopher faces a difficult dilemma: what is more achievable - the desire to establish peace throughout the world or an attempt to find harmony in his family and team?
