Brief Description of Events in the Series
Tom Ripley is a master manipulator and a clever adventurer who is ready to do anything to achieve success, even if his methods are not always reliable. His life resembles a constant escape: frequent changes of location and attempts to escape from the past. His only source of financial support is one of his relatives.
Things change when Herbert Greenleaf, a wealthy man, appears in his life and mistakenly believes that Tom knows his son Dickie. Dickie has long since severed ties with the family and now lives in Italy. Herbert suggests that Tom go to Italy to convince Dickie to return home.
Having accepted the offer, Tom goes to Europe and quickly gains Dickie's trust by skillfully entering his social circle. But it soon becomes clear that Tom's true intentions are much more complex and can lead to serious danger.
