The television miniseries "The Night Of," a co-production between HBO and BBC Worldwide, is a reimagining of the British series "Criminal Justice" (which aired in 2008–2009). Created by screenwriters Richard Price and Steven Zaillian (the latter also directed the majority of the episodes), the eight-episode project premiered on July 10, 2016.
Before its official release on June 24, 2016, the pilot episode was available for viewing on the HBO on Demand platform. "The Night Of" is a collaboration between British and American television companies.

A brief description of the events of the series
The plot of the series "The Night Of" centers on the story of a young man, a student, whose life changes dramatically after a tragic night. He dreamed of bright impressions in New York, but instead finds himself in the epicenter of nightmarish events: after meeting a stranger, the next morning he finds her dead and cannot restore the course of events.
The main character finds himself in the millstones of justice, where bias and formalism become an obstacle to establishing the truth. Despite his American origin, his ethnicity and appearance make him a convenient figure for the police and public opinion to accuse.
The series focuses on how easy it is to break a person's life, falling under the roller of the system. Inexperienced and law-abiding, the main character gradually transforms under the influence of the prison world, where it is necessary to abandon the former "I" in order to survive.
