«Twin Peaks» is an American television series, considered one of the cult dramas, created by outstanding authors - director David Lynch and screenwriter Mark Frost. It premiered on April 8, 1990, opening to viewers the mysterious world of the small town of Twin Peaks, located in northwestern Washington State, near the Canadian border.

The series aired on the ABC Channel from April 1990 to June 1991. The debut episode alone gathered more than 8 million viewers in front of their screens, instantly securing the show's status as a cultural phenomenon. A total of two seasons were filmed, comprising 30 episodes: the first consisted of eight episodes, including the pilot, and the second of twenty-two. The series was directed by various directors, although David Lynch himself directed six episodes, maintaining his signature style. The production side of the project was in the hands of Aaron Spelling Studios, and its international distribution was handled by Worldvision Enterprises.

The two-hour pilot episode was later split into two parts for television, but the uniqueness of this episode led to it being shown in cinemas in several European countries. This emphasized the special status of the series and contributed to its wide recognition outside the United States.

The show's tagline, "A town where everyone knows everyone else and nothing is what it seems," reflects the intriguing atmosphere of the work and its multi-layered plot. In 1992, a prequel film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, was released, dedicated to the events preceding the series. The series received many accolades and was recognized as the scariest television show in history by Rolling Stone magazine in 2019, which once again emphasized its influence on the genre and popular culture.

Plot
